Holiday Rush

It’s the time of the year when I can’t seem to think about anything else other than what to eat, what to cook, and what to do during the holiday break. Open my brain and all you’ll see is a mishmash of Christmasy thoughts about presents to get my loved ones, a running list of things to prepare, and a huge spike on the desire to percolate on the couch while bingeing on holiday-themed movies.

These days, work has taken a backseat with the gear shifting to home life. Ever since I had kids, the holidays have taken on a new meaning. I especially love the tradition surrounding Christmas like lighting the advent wreath (Adventskranz), getting the kids their advent calendar (Adventskalendar), St. Nicholas, dressing the tree, and a whole lot more! The look in my children’s faces counting down the days until Christmas and looking forward to daycare break is priceless. It somehow makes me want to go full-on in the Christmas extravaganza, while also keeping the coziness of this season.

Sure it’s a busy time, but it’s also rife with euphoria and jubilation. There’s a lot on the to-do list but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
